The Law Day event, which began in the 1940s as a response to communist Russia's May Day celebrations, is one of the Hartford County Bar Association's major events of the year. In recognition of the specialness of the day, the Hartford Superior Court closes the courthouse for the morning and requests that all superior and appellate court judges attend the event on April 30.
